Ernest Bangó

Ernest Bangó, born in 1968, is the son of a famous cimbalom player. Before he was allowed to take up that instrument, at the age of seven, his father had insisted that he learn to play the violin and piano. After a classical training at the Béla Bartók Conservatory, where his teachers included Ferenc Gerencsér,and Ágnes Szakály, he eventually turned to gypsy music and in 1986 was awarded a soloist’s diploma. He has appeared in Geneva, Cairo, Düsseldorf, Toronto and Montreal.In the year 1990 he joined the band of Roby Lakatos in Bruxelles, who is todays most celebrated gypsy violonist. After 17 years of touring worldwide in all the bigest concert halls like Santoury Hall in Tokyo, Royal Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York etc, he got back to he’s roots to Budapest in 2007. In he’s carrier he appeard playing with great musicians like Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Ida Handel, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov, Stephane Grappeli, Zubin Metha etc. He recorded several cd’s with famous labels including Deutsche Grammophon. He is performing the Kodály: Háry János suite, with different philharmonic orchestras all around the world. You can listen to him every night at Budapest’s best restaurant, the ”Nosztalgia étterem”. From 2009 he’s touring 4-5 times a year in Norway, with Gjertrud’s Gypsy Orchestra. He’ hopes to see you in one of he’s concert’s.
