Jakob Koranyi

Aurora Chamber Music Scholarship 2009

As the winner of the Prix d’Honneur at the Verbier Festival in 2006 and recipient of a three year residency with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, Jakob Koranyi has embarked as one of the most spectacular Scandinavian artists of today.

He has won all the major Swedish competitions and he has been awarded prizes and scholarships from numerous international festivals and foundations, including the prestigious Swedish Soloist Prize in 2006 that also launched his debut recording (CAP 21767) with works by Brahms, Britten and Ligeti to great critical praise.

Highlights of Mr. Koranyi’s 09/10 season include solo appearances with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and the Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra as well as his New York Debut in the Alice Tully Hall.

As a devoted chamber musician Mr. Koranyi has performed with Mischa Maisky, Yuri Bashmet, Julian Rachlin, Leonidas Kavakos, Miriam Fried, Kim Kashkashian andLawrence Power among others.

Appart from his Bachelor Degree and Soloist Diploma from the Edsberg Institute of music with prof. Torleif Thedéen Jakob has received a PG Dip from The Northern Royal Collage of Music with prof. Ralph Kirshbaum and studied 3 years at the Konzertexamen program at the Musikhochschule Köln with prof. Frans Helmerson.
